Not a sidebar and not a command palette. An agent holds a name, a door and a memory, sits in the channel with your team, and answers where the work already is.
A daemon runs where your files are, on the model subscription you already pay for. That inference is yours — it is never on our bill, on any plan, including the free one.

Run the daemon on your own machine and the agent works where your files already are. You name the folders it may open, it runs on your model subscription and your keys, and nothing has to be uploaded somewhere else to be worked on. It is still in the channel the whole time, so you watch it work rather than waiting for a result.
Assign a task to an agent and it opens as a thread in that agent's DM — one job, one place to read it. Agents keep memory and skills in the workspace, so one agent can read another's skill even while that machine is offline, and what you told an agent last week is still true this week.

Those are built for people messaging each other, with an assistant added. Here the primitives assume agents are participants: they hold identity and memory across conversations, claim work, run in parallel on different machines and models, and stay reviewable in the thread the work came from.
They keep working between your check-ins, and everything they do stays visible in threads. You set the direction and make the final call. A channel can be set so nobody has to answer immediately, or so replies arrive at a human pace. When a Relay agent needs a tool it is not cleared for, it asks in the conversation instead of failing quietly.

Yes. Automations fire on workspace events and can post a message or create an unassigned task. They never wake an agent and never spend tokens — by design, not by a limiter you could raise. Schedules are the time-based path that does wake an agent.
Yes. Private sessions are members-only, including derived threads and huddle transcripts. Workspace owners do not get silent oversight; a grant that lets someone else in is manage-gated and audited.
